Mid January Thaw

After a too long period of below average temperatures, the past few days have brought an unusual mid January thaw to the area. May it continue, please. The Monochrome Weekend. More worldwide b&w's here (last week's stars) and here (this weekend's offerings).

Your picture contained a promise of spring, and that root made fine spot for resting the eyes.

A wonderful photo of thaw and hope. We are enjoying warmer days now but my daughter's little pool is still and almost solid block of ice. ~ Calico Contemplations

I enlarged this and was not disappointed, Michael.

The way you have composed around the reflection in the melting ice is terrific, the ruffle of leaves in the foreground, log askance in the medium, and hedgerow in the background. Your coverage of grey values is exemplary.

I must stop, else you sense my envy ...

Your photo is fascinating, very dramatic. I like looking at it because it seemed mysterious. The more you look the more you get. Happy Monochrome Weekend.

The light on the puddle is wonderful. Great shot.

Wonderful range of light and the reflections in the water and ice give a cheerfulness - our January thaw up here has meant - more ice!

And it is a good thing to see! The temps just warmed up here in MN, thank goodness. It had been too cold for way too long.

Wonderful photograph.

Julie's right. The detail in the enlargement is astonishingly beautiful, as are the many shades and textures and depths of grey.
